One frustrating piece of new-build admin, handled

AddressClerk exists to make one thing easier: getting the right home recognised in the right place online.

Why new-build addresses are difficult to find

A house can be finished, sold, insured and lived in months before the map catches up. Local authorities allocate the address, Royal Mail issues the postcode, and the mapping services update on their own schedules from their own data. Those steps do not happen at the same time, and they do not always agree with each other.

The result is familiar to anyone who has moved onto a new development. The postcode is real, the paperwork is correct, but typing the address into a phone sends people to the wrong end of the site, to a neighbouring phase, or to a field where the road has not been drawn yet. Deliveries fail. Visitors circle. Everyone assumes it is your fault.

What AddressClerk handles

At launch we focus on one platform where the problem bites hardest for most people: Google Maps. We work out what is actually wrong - a missing address, a pin in the wrong place, a road that has not appeared - prepare an accurate correction through Google’s own process, submit it, and follow the case through.

We do not currently carry out operational correction work on Apple Maps, Royal Mail or delivery platforms, and we do not claim to. Different services use different address and map datasets, so a correction on one does not automatically appear on another. If that changes, we will say so here rather than quietly implying it.

Why the service is independent

AddressClerk is an independent service and is not affiliated with Google. Google ultimately controls whether and when map corrections are accepted. We are not resellers, we have no special queue, and nobody at Google knows who we are. What we have is the patience to prepare a correction properly, submit it through the right channel and keep at it - which is exactly the part most people do not want to spend their evenings on.

That independence is also why we will not promise a guaranteed outcome or a fixed turnaround. Anyone who does is either guessing or misleading you.

Why you get updates

Address corrections are slow and invisible. Without updates you have no idea whether anything is happening, which is its own kind of frustrating. So we email you when the case is submitted and whenever the status meaningfully changes. There is no account to create and no dashboard to remember to check.

UK-focused, deliberately narrow

AddressClerk is a UK service built around UK new-build addressing: local authority street naming, Royal Mail postcodes, and the gap between those and what appears on a map. We would rather do one country and one problem properly than claim to cover everywhere.

If you want to see exactly what happens after you enter your address, read how it works. If you would rather ask a question first, get in touch.
